Sony's first D-SLR previewed at dpreview · Jun 13, 10:18 PM by Simon Mackie
As I mentioned before Sony are about to enter the D-SLR market with their own camera. You can read a preview of the new Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 over at dpreview. There’s a couple of exciting things about this camera. The first (which I believe is a carry-over from Konica Minolta) is an optical image stabilization system built into the camera body rather than each lens. This means that you get the benefit of a system similar to Nikon’s VR or Canon’s IS systems, without having to pay extra on each lens. Secondly, the sensor has an anti-dust mechanism, which shakes dust off the sensor each time the camera is powered down. It will be interesting to see how well this fares in the field. Overall, it seems like a pretty nice system – I can’t wait to see some more in-depth reviews.
