Canon 350D/Rebel XT "rattle" · May 22, 11:18 PM by Simon Mackie
If you’ve just bought a new Canon Rebel XT/350D you may have noticed that it rattles if you shake it or move it around. Don’t worry about this – it’s perfectly normal.
If you check out the manual on page 105, it states that the orientation sensor that tells the camera whether you are shooting in portrait or landscape mode is the culprit:
When you change the camera’s orientation between horizontal and vertical, the camera orientation sensor will make a small sound. This is normal and not a defect.
Personally, I think it’s the little metal arms that support the popup flash, but whatever causes it, it’s common on these cameras and, as long as your camera is still working normally, is not something to worry about.

Thanks, I was wondering about that.. However. defect or not, it’s still very annoying.
