I used to have lots of trouble downloading the pictures from my camera – it used to take ages, and quite often crash my computer, especially when trying to transfer a lot of images.
If this is happening to you, check out the Communication setting on the camera: this can be found on the second settings menu (the one at the far right, with the little wrench and hammer symbol and the number 2) and make sure it is set to PC connection rather than Print/PTP. When I changed this over, I was able to get the images off the camera easily, without crashes.
Print/PTP mode is for printing directly with a printer – only use it if you’re connecting the maera straight to a printer with direct printing (PictBridge) capability.
Note: A much better solution is to use a USB card reader – this is usually much faster and more convenient, but if you don’t want to shell out for a card reader and are having problems getting
